French sports newspaper L’Equipe awarded Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Matvey Safonov a score of 7 out of 10 for his display in the Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich.
PSG drew 1-1 away to Bayern on Wednesday, advancing to the final with a 5-4 aggregate score. Safonov made five saves, conceding only in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time.
The same 7/10 rating from L’Equipe was given to defenders Marquinhos and Nuno Mendes, as well as midfielders Fabian Ruiz and Joao Neves. Only midfielders Warren Zaire-Emery and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia received a higher mark, both scoring an 8.
RMC Sport rated Safonov, Willian Pacho, and Kvaratskhelia as the team’s best performers, giving each an 8/10.
However, Foot Mercato gave Safonov, along with Vitinha, Neves, and Desire Doue, the lowest team rating of 6/10. The publication noted his concentration and several saves but also highlighted a mistake by the Russian when clearing the ball.
