Traktor Chelyabinsk General Director Ivan Savin addressed rumors about a reduction in the club’s funding for the upcoming season, confirming that the financial support remains at the same level.
“We are not going to hit the salary cap right before the season starts. Instead, we will leave a reserve to strengthen the team during the season,” Savin stated.
The remarks came after Traktor’s first-round exit in the Gagarin Cup playoffs, losing 1-4 to Ak Bars. Regarding speculation about budget cuts, Savin clarified, “Funding stays the same. The only difference is that we won’t go up to the cap immediately before the season. We’ll keep some room to maneuver, because last season we faced the problem of having no cap space and no resources for adjustments, even though we needed reinforcements.”
Savin explained the new approach: “We have experienced, reliable players under current contracts. They form the core of the team. We will also actively integrate young players into the lineup, strengthen several key positions through scouting, and then see how the team develops. With financial resources and cap space available, we will make corrections and add to the roster during the championship. This is my decision, aimed at using our funds most effectively.”
