Oviedo has lost any mathematical chance of staying in Spain’s top football division, confirming their relegation to the Segunda División.
On Monday, Girona played a 1-1 draw away at Rayo Vallecano in the 35th round of La Liga. Alemão opened the scoring for the hosts in the 86th minute, but Christian Stuani equalized for Girona in the 90th minute.
Rayo Vallecano (43 points) sit in 10th place in the standings, while Girona (39 points) are 17th. Oviedo, currently 20th with 29 points, cannot climb higher than 18th place, meaning they will drop down to the second tier.
