
In a revealing MLS salary ranking, Lionel Messi continues to dominate as the highest-paid player in the league, leaving Thomas Müller far behind. The Argentine World Cup winner earns a base salary of $25 million at Inter Miami, more than double that of the second-ranked player, Heung-Min Son (LAFC), who receives $10.36 million. The salary report was released Tuesday by the MLS Players Association.
Former World Cup champion Thomas Müller, now with Vancouver Whitecaps, ranks ninth with a base salary of $5 million. Timo Werner of the San Jose Earthquakes earns $3.73 million, while Marco Reus at LA Galaxy takes home just over $600,000. German striker Hany Mukhtar receives $4 million at Nashville SC.
Beyond base pay, the Players Association also listed guaranteed annual earnings, which include bonuses such as signing fees. Messi’s total guaranteed compensation reaches $28.33 million per year, while Müller’s stands at $5.152 million.
