Ajax Amsterdam is bracing for a major squad overhaul during the upcoming summer transfer window, as part of a comprehensive restructuring plan led by sporting director Jordi Cruyff, son of the late legend Johan Cruyff.
According to Dutch newspaper *Algemeen Dagblad*, Cruyff intends to execute one of the largest squad changes in the club’s modern history, releasing between 15 and 17 players in one go. This move, described within the club as a “radical transformation,” aims to rebuild Ajax’s footballing identity and restore its lost glory.

Internal sources indicate that the plan goes beyond technical adjustments, extending to significant financial considerations. The club hopes to generate substantial revenue from selling promising young talents such as Mika Godts, Youri Baas, and Kasper Dolberg, boosting the squad’s budget for the next phase.
The list of potential departures also includes other notable names like Oscar Gloukh, Josip Šutalo, and Owen Wijndal, reflecting a clear administrative drive to reduce the squad size and rebalance the team.
Ajax’s management is pursuing two main objectives with this revolution: first, to lower the wage bill and shed the heavy financial burden of underperforming players; second, to open the door for new signings aligned with Cruyff’s technical vision, raising the level of competition domestically and in Europe.
